Okay, I’ve been playing Diablo 4 items since launch and enjoying most of it. But I really need to say something about this Berserk collaboration.
It’s. So. Cool. Visually, the Guts armor is sick. The influence is spot on. And it makes perfect sense in the Diablo universe. But Blizzard really messed up by putting it behind a Twitch sub wall.
Why wasn’t this part of the seasonal rewards? A new boss event? Or even a helltide-exclusive drop? Instead, we’re told: go to Twitch, watch 4 hours, gift 2 subs, then you might get it. That's more marketing event than actual content.
Blizzard’s always done transmog and cosmetics well. But they’re walking into dangerous territory when they turn something as beloved as Berserk into a monetization gimmick. They had a golden opportunity to create a special Berserk-themed dungeon, maybe fight an apostle boss, or add Guts-inspired lore. Instead, we get… Twitch Drop.
That’s it?
I'm still hyped for the armor, but man, what a missed opportunity for actual gameplay integration. Blizzard could’ve made it a moment. Instead, it’s just a marketing tool.
Am I overreacting? Or do you agree this buy diablo 4 items deserved better?
